New site new home

After 3 years of calling blogger my home I am moving my blog over to my brand new website. I'll leave this blog active for as long as it stays up but any future posts will be over at:

Unearthed

8 pieces of my work will be on show as part of a group exhibition title 'Unearthed' which opens Saturday June 29th. The exhibition will run until the 28th of July and takes place at The Woolhouse, Town Quay, Southampton, SO14 2AG.
The show features the work of Steph May, Peter Hunter, Tina Lane, Harriet Green, Maxine Marsh and myself.

RELAMPAGO

Omar Lopez is an artist who has kitted out a motorbike as a travelling darkroom which he is using for his new project "Relampago", Lopez will travel around the Los Angeles area creating fictionalised interactions with strangers, posing as members of their families. In his kickstarter campaign video Lopez talks about his work, the ideas behind the project and the wet plate process which he will employ to create the images.

Bless This House

A few weeks back I did a shoot my friend John outside his house.
The idea behind the shoot was to create a scene that could have come from a 1970's British sitcom, where an Eric Morecambe inspired character interacted with passers by.

I've known John for years and used to assist him on shoots up in London, pretty much everything I know about photography I have learned from him.

The shoot took about an hour with most of Johns neighbours out in their gardens, although none of them seemed to pay attention to what was going on. 

We used a pair of 3d glasses instead of his actual glasses just to give his character a more exaggerated appearance. At least they're good for something!

Show's over

Thank you to everyone who came down to my show at Room 237 over the past two weeks and to all o the people who helped me to put it together. I hope that you all enjoyed it and got something out of it, I would also like to thank those of you who bought my work on the opening night, the money I have made from the exhibition will go back towards making more work.
I am also planning on a small book to accompany the show, which will feature all of the images from the show plus a few extras.

These are the largest prints for the show measuring in at 20 x 30 Inches each.

Stars in their eyes

Meet Sydney Criggley and Colin Butters, two old fashioned romantics with a deeply concerning passion for the world of celebrity.
I met up with Sydney and Colin on the last leg of their lecturing tour where they were telling stories of their celebrity encounters and selling off Eddie Izzards boots.

The show forms a three minute comedy short that we have entered into the 2 days laughter festival in Margate.

Standing next to giants

I have just seen this post on the Betley Whitehorne blog, from an exhibition of my work in Guernsey back in 2008. It may be the closest I will ever get to having my work displayed near to Annie Leibovitz, so until my work graces the pages of Vanity Fair, I bid you good day.

Polaroid, we love you.

Many years ago friend John gave me a Polaroid Automatic 100. Resigned to the unavailability of a battery for it I placed it on my Polaroid camera shelf to collect dust and look good.
Then the other day I read on the world wide internet that you can use a bog standard 9v battery to power the shutter, so I tried it and it worked! I have since ordered a few packs of fuji pull apart polaroid and will be posting shots from it as soon as the film arrives.

I won't launch into a rant about how badly I miss polaroid and their fine products, I will however be first in line to buy a box of Type 55 if the impossible project ever manufacture it.

Also as a side note I am looking for more participants in my five by four project. If you would like me to take your portrait and I can get to you feel free to send me an email via my website.
